In short, no. SVI: Banff is intended as an immersive experience that fosters networking, collaboration, and community support. These benefits are only fully realized through the full participation of all attendees.
What kind of experience can I expect to have?
SVI: Banff is a unique hybrid of conference, retreat, social gathering, and coming together of those on the forefront of social ventures in Alberta. You'll want to set up your out of office. Expect to learn, to be challenged, and to expand your ideas of what's possible through this intensive experience.
Staying at the Banff Centre
How do I book my accommodation at the Banff Centre?
SVI: Banff has secured a room block at the Banff Centre for attendees. Once your application is accepted, you'll be provided with a link to book a room within the block. July is within the peak season for the Banff Centre but we've negotiated a rate of $250/night.
What else is there to do in the area?
The location for SVI: Banff is intentional. Participants will have access to all that the beautiful national park has to offer, from world class hiking and biking, to perusing the town center. The itinerary for SVI: Banff is full, so if you really want to spend some time exploring the area feel free to extend your stay before or after. Understanding the Origins of SVI
Who are the organizers behind SVI: Banff?
There are a couple organizations you may hear referenced. SVI: Banff is hosted by Be Local, a network of values-based businesses in Calgary, and Be Local is housed within Momentum. Momentum is a community economic development organization that aims to create a thriving, resilient, local economy. By hosting SVI: Banff, Be Local is able to connect its work to the broader social innovation ecosystem in Alberta and contribute to systems level change.
How is SVI: Banff connected to other SVI offerings?
SVI was created by and has been produced by the Hollyhock Leadership Institute for over 25 years with great success. Over the years, other SVI offerings have been developed and launched, including SVI Women, SVI 365, and our own offering, SVI: Banff.
The Price of Attending SVI
What is the price of attending SVI: Banff?
The total attendance fee for SVI: Banff is $405, which includes: three conference days, two breakfasts, one lunch, two dinners, coffee, snacks, parking and the $55 Banff Centre facility fee, which provides you complimentary access to the fitness and recreation facilities, Banff Centre library and archives, and arts and programmed events when available. We highly recommend staying at the Banff Centre hotel for the duration of SVI so that you can maximize your time with this incredible community. So much of the magic that happens at SVI: Banff is during the unscheduled time. The rate of the hotel is $250 per night, plus 11% GST and tourism fees.
